Earthstone was a crystal created using a geometric crystal brought to Earth by Wraith. It was used by William Rudolph to have the Machine create several weapons of advanced capabilities. However, before the US Government could get decades advanced, the geometric equation used to produce the crystal was altered by Rudolph and rendered useless. The formula was later figured out by Ascension who used it's technology altering capabilities to wreak havoc.
